Coconut oil, clean, launder, strengthen

In Ireland, researchers at the Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) found that coconut oil makes it possible to effectively prevent the proliferation of harmful oral bacteria. Stopping harmful oral bacteria, oral infections, cavities and Candida albicans are unlikely to develop.

Better choose a vegetable oil. Traditionally, Indians used sesame oil, that tastes good, but virgin coconut oil is perhaps even better. I personally prefer fragrant taste. But olive oil and sunflower oil can also do the trick.

Coconut oil is solid at room temperature (up to 23 ° C), it takes a few seconds to liquefy completely in the mouth. It has the advantage of being very rich in lauric acid, a medium chain triglyceride (MCT) capable of destroying viruses, bacteria and yeasts [1] [2].

One tablespoon is enough, but it depends on people. At first impression is a bit odd, but you get used to. Try different types of oil or fat, depending on your preference.

Regarding the breath, the practice of "oil pulling" is often effective but not always. It is all the more we also regularly cleans the spaces between the teeth with dental floss (or a water jet) and the language we brush.

But the problems of bad breath do not always come from the mouth. This practice is compared to chemical baths mouth with chlorhexidine, a medical antimicrobial agent against gingivitis problems (inflammation of the gums).

From the perspective of the benefits against bad breath, plaque, gum disease and tooth decay causing bacteria, oil mouthwash are almost as effective as chlorhexidine [5].

But they also have fewer side effects! The problem of chlorhexidine is first it may stain teeth. But above all, a recent study showed that too frequent chemical mouthwash increase the risk of cancer of the mouth and throat [6], probably because they destroy all bacteria, including good.

After 10 days of this practice:

  • you will have a lasting feeling of freshness in the mouth;
  • your teeth appear healthier, whiter and brighter;
  • your irritation, bleeding gums inflammation have decreased;
  • strongly reduce the number of pathogenic bacteria in your mouth;
  • you will decrease your risk of cavities.

I use coconut oil for cooking:

  • Cook eggs: I use in place of butter, it makes the eggs taste delicious!
  • Roast the vegetables: the smoke point Coconut oil is very high (185 ° C) in contrast to many other oils. Which means this is the perfect oil to use in your wok for successful vegetable fried. You can also use it in the oven: by putting a little oil on your sweet potato fries finely chopped. Add some herbs de provence and bim! You are on the right track to go into Master Chief.
  • Make salad dressing: To change rapeseed oil or olive oil! Just mix it with a little vinegar and lemon.

My beauty secrets with coconut oil:

  • Replace my oil massage: When I have more massage oil, I added a few drops of essential oils to 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a glass bottle (I keep my oil bottles Weleda empty!), and hop, house massage oil perfume of my choice!
